Deaths feared after army helicopters crash in US

There are fears of casualties following the crash of two US Army Black Hawk helicopters over the state of Kentucky during a training mission.

In a statement on Thursday, army spokeswoman Nondice Thurman stated that the crew members' status was not immediately known. The number of individuals aboard the aircraft was unknown.

According to Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, deaths were anticipated, and the state's emergency management service and Kentucky police were responding.

He stated on Twitter, "We've got some tough news out of Fort Campbell with early reports of a helicopter crash and fatalities expected."

The 101st Airborne Division was responsible for operating the two HH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.

According to Thurman, crew members were operating two Black Hawk helicopters when they crashed in Kentucky's Trigg County around 10 p.m. (02:00 GMT Thursday).

The crash's cause is currently under investigation. She stated, "Caring for service members and their families is the current focus of the command."
